The primary purpose of this position is to process reassignment actions for non-prior service enlisted personnel, serves as final clerical reviewer, performs duties as an assignments counselor and serves as a certified passport agent.

Duties

Provides guidance to other Human Resource Assistants (Military/OA) within the element and serves as the certified passport agent Works with military and/or civilian personnel who: Control and process enlisted employment and customer service actions for students who arrive for technical training: conducts in-processing program; maintains associated data contained within the MiLPDS data system; manages the control and maintenance of student Unit Personnel Record Groups; manages and performs a variety of customer service functions Updates, inquires, and processes actions through Personnel Data System Uses multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce a wide range of documents, formats, etc., pertaining to the military relocation, employment, promotion, and separation program Updates and inquiries against the Military Personnel Data (Mil-PDS) system to validate and confirm personal data affecting employment, assignment, promotion, emergency data, and training related data Coordinates directly with AFPC, AETC, and BMT activity managers to validate and resolve in-processing criteria issues

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, 0203 Series. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-4, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include knowledge of and skill in applying, a standardized body of military personnel rules, regulations, procedures, and precedents relating to military assignment and formal training programs and ability to analyze, interpret and resolve complex procedural and substantive problems. Knowledge of the format, content, and uses of the military personnel record. Knowledge of the organization and its functions and programs to answer inquiries of a general nature or to refer them to the responsible staff member. OR EDUCATION: Applicants have successfully completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Applicants have a combination of experience and education as described in the job opportunity announcement. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of the military personnel regulations and procedures relating to student assignments Knowledge of the format, content, and uses of the military personnel record and the procedures and requirements regarding its maintenance Knowledge of the military personnel automated system; Knowledge of general office administrative and clerical procedures Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs Skill in typing; a qualified typist is required Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and maintain effective work relationships PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
