About the position: This position will be assigned to the NAF Human Resources Office on Keesler Air Force Base, MS.
This is a Regular Full Time position and you will work 35-40 hours a week. As a regular full time employee, you are eligible to earn annual leave, sick leave, and sign up for benefits, to include health/life insurance, 401k, and NAF retirement.
Duties
THIS IS A DEVELOPMENTAL TRAINING POSITION. TE-IE TARGET POSITION IS HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (OA), NF-0203-III, PG# 07044. AFTER COMPLETION OF ALL TRAINING REQUIREMENTS AND MEETS QUALIFICATIONS, TIIE INCUMBENT MAY BE PROMOTED TO THE NF-III LEVEL WITHOUT FURTIIER COMPETITION. Provides recruitment and placement services to all NAF assigned activities by procedurally processing a full range of personnel actions such as appointments, position and pay changes, transfers and separations. Codes and inputs personnel data into the Modem Defense Civilian Personnel Data System (DCPDS) to process a variety of personnel actions. Researches computer products to verify and assure accuracy of data before actions are processed. Insures that personnel actions have processed properly. Interprets regulations and other guidance material and assures all regulatory compliance items have been met on all AF Form 2545s, Notification of Personnel Actions, before submission to Human Resources Officer for authentication. Distributes copies of AF 2545s for completed actions in a timely manner. Makes or reviews decisions on pay setting actions. Reviews salary determinations for accuracy and reports discrepancies and problem cases to supervisor. Instructs supervisor of the assigned organizations as to the proper method for timely submission of documentation to accomplish personnel actions. Answers inquiries concerning status of pending actions. Schedules employees for pre-employment physicals, investigative background checks and any other pre-employment requirements. Assures all documentation required to meet eligibility have been met to include background checks, physical exams, etc. Schedules enter on duty dates for new employees. Processes all types of background checks to include Installation Records Check (IRC), State Criminal History Repository Check (SCHRC), and National Agency Check (NAC). Monitors progress of background checks information to insure timeliness in responses and suitability information. Prepares suability packages on background investigations retu1ning from OPM. Ensures appropriate suitability decisions are made. Inputs investigations results in the Security Forces automated system. Processes new employees. Administers in processing procedures to include scheduling, preparations of Official Personnel Folders (OPF's), and assists employees in the completion of employment documents, as necessary. Assists HR Assistant in conducting new employee orientation providing basic information regarding benefits, pay systems, grievance/appeals procedures, employee's rights and responsibilities, etc., for scheduled employees. Reviews OPFs for purposes of establishing the service computation date, leave accrual, within-grade-increases, and completion of probationary period. Forwards appropriate notifications to management to ensure personnel actions are processed timely. Follows-up with management. Maintains current position control register. Forwards current copies of position control registers to assigned activities. Monitors the Transaction Register for suspense's and reports any unusual problems or suspense's to appropriate personnel. Updates information in DCPDS as necessary, to include LWOP days, FLEX days worked, corrections, etc. Performs a variety of typing in connection with the above duties. Responsible for regulatory compliance in processing personnel actions. Retrieves information for reports and special projects. Performs oilier related duties as assigned.

Qualifying Experience:
Applicant must have experience in responsible clerical or office work of any kind in which the applicant demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily at the pay band level of the position. In addition, experience that required the applicant to acquire and apply knowledge of the rules, regulations, procedures, and program requirements of one or more areas bf a personnel system is required. Typing/office automations skills are required. Knowledge of office automation systems (MS Windows, MS Office, including Word, MS Excel, Power-Point, Work and Access) is desirable. Must be able to read, write and speak English. Must possess skill in dealing with the public and effectively communicate.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
