This position is located in the District of Columbia (DC) Courts, Human Resources Division, Benefits Branch. The Human Resources (HR) Assistant provides information and assistance in the processing of various benefit programs offered at the DC Courts.  The incumbent will process and code benefits and personnel actions in the Federal Personnel and Payroll System (FPPS), and maintain official employee records.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification: Grade 7: High school diploma or GED certificate and two (2) years of general administrative experience and one (1) year of experience working in a human resources environment.  Attention to detail, exceptional customer service and time management are required.  Grade 8: High school diploma or GED certificate and two (2) years of general administrative experience and two (2) years of specialized experience. Attention to detail, exceptional customer service and time management are required.  Grade 9: High school diploma or GED certificate and two (2) years of general administrative experience and three (3) years of specialized experience. Attention to detail, exceptional customer service and time management are required.  Specialized experience is defined as: Skilled in applying Retirement, Payroll, Health and Life Benefits and other personnel regulations, laws, and procedures. Processing various payroll/personnel actions. Demonstrated skill processing various payroll/personnel actions and/or extracting and inputting personnel and/or payroll data in an automated payroll or HRIS system. Ability to identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information to generate and evaluate alternatives and recommend solutions. Equivalent combinations of relevant education may be substituted for general experience.  *Applicants please be advised that your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience and that you meet the basic qualifications or you will not be determined qualified for this position.
