This position serves as the Beneficiary Travel Coordinator for the VA Roseburg Healthcare System (VARHS) in Roseburg, OR and all Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) attached to the facility.

Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Manages the Beneficiary Travel Program for the VARHS and all CBOCs associated with this system. Assists with providing transportation at government expense to beneficiaries and their attendants traveling to and from VA facilities and other places for the purpose of examination, treatment or care. Determines eligibility for the program, and processing requests. Determines which of several fund control points to utilize, maintaining manual and electronic accounting records. Receives invoices for payment of transportation reimbursements and will oversee the completion from processing to issuance of reimbursement to the beneficiary. Tracks and researches all transactions pertaining to Beneficiary travel reimbursements and the validity of claims requested. Investigates authorizations, orders, and/or utilizes the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) to review medical records, forwards for supervisory approval and submits all documents for payment utilizing appropriate control point for reference. Partners with community resources to identify and use alternate modes of transportation. Makes special arrangements per physician documentation according to traveler's medical condition and/or preference. Reconciles vouchers against authorizations for accuracy prior to preparing certifications for payment. Performs other related duties as assigned. TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION AT THE GS-06 LEVEL YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-05) that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled? Qualifying examples of specialized experience includes: determining eligibility for transportation benefits; performing transportation support duties such as coordinating and scheduling services; documenting travel information; and performing clerical support responsibilities. NOTE: Your resume must show complete information for each job entry, such as beginning and ending dates of employment, duties performed, and/or total hours worked per week. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: Critical ThinkingCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Database Administration IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work requires no special physical demands, but will require some physical effort such as standing, walking, bending or sitting.
