Duties
You will evaluate repair requests to determine the time, material, and parts that are required to complete marine machinery repairs.
You will adjust marine machinery or equipment during test procedures to specified tolerances.
You will direct personnel in the installation and repair of marine engines and other equipment (e.g., propulsion machinery auxiliary generators, pumps, compressors, firefighting equipment).
You will train marine machinery personnel on the correct usage of materials or equipment.
You will inspect work of marine machinery mechanics to verify correctness and conformance to design.
You will direct personnel in the troubleshooting of marine engines and other equipment (e.g., propulsion machinery auxiliary generators, pumps, compressors, firefighting equipment).
This position may require occasional travel from normal duty station. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft.
Requirements

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
Qualifications
Your resume must show you have the ability to perform common tasks of this position without more than normal supervision, including:
(1) The incumbent provides on-the-job leadership to assigned shop personnel and technical guidance to service craft engineers in the
overhaul and repairs of all types of machinery found on service crafts.
(2) Possess an understanding of supervisory techniques and be able to deal effectively with subordinates and supervisors.
(3) Possess a knowledge of effective instructional techniques and methods.
(4) Incumbent must have the ability to use knowledge obtained through an apprenticeship or its equivalent.
(5) Must be able to work from manufacture's instruction manuals and similar technical instructions supplemented with his/ her
knowledge and experience.
(6) A broad knowledge of mechanical principles applicable to complex and usually heavy machinery of various types is required.
(7) Required or exhibit a wide diversity of knowledge and skills because of the variety of mechanical devices he/ she may be called upon
to repair.
