Duties
The mission of Air and Marine Operations (AMO), at U.S. Customs and Border Protection, is to serve and protect the American people. We apply advanced aeronautical and maritime capabilities and employ our unique skill sets to preserve America's security interests. With federal agents, mission support personnel, and a fleet of aircraft and marine vessels, AMO detects, sorts, intercepts, tracks, and apprehends criminals in diverse environments at and beyond U.S. borders.
As Deputy Executive Director, Operations, you will serve as a strategic partner to the Executive Director, Operations. You will oversee AMO field offices located throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, including the Air and Marine Operations Center, in Riverside, California; and National Air Security Operations Centers in Grand Forks, Albuquerque, Sierra Vista, and Corpus Christi.
You will contribute to securing our nation's borders and combating criminal activity by building land, sea, and air domain awareness, linking network sensors and senor equipment, utilizing P3 aircraft and unmanned aircraft systems in source and transit zones, and employing a variety of tactical level aircraft and vessels along U.S. land and maritime borders, in our nation's interior, and in the Caribbean region.
You will oversee sophisticated homeland security missions that counter treats in the three operations environments of land, sea, and air. You will ensure appropriate long-range planning is coordinated and accomplished to move the organization's strategic vision into operational reality through budgeting, human capital management, equipment procurement, and strategic and tactical placement of resources. You will be responsible for organizing, training, and equipping AMO personnel, leading acquisition efforts, establishing training and safety policies, and ensuring a safe and effective work environment.

Technical Qualifications - Mandatory
6. Expert knowledge of and ability to manage a large, complex air and marine law enforcement interdiction program, to include demonstrated military or civilian experience in major aviation operations.
(Note: Aviation leadership experience is mandatory for this position. A combination of aviation and marine leadership experience is desirable, but not mandatory.)
