Duties
THIS IS A T5 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION
The primary purpose of the AIRFIELD OPERATIONS SPECIALIST, GS-2150-9, is to supervise and direct flight services activities of all guard-owned airfield land and facilities (i.e., flight services; upkeep of taxiways, ramps, etc.). The Transportation Operations Series GS-2150 includes all classes of positions the duties of which are to administer, supervise, or perform work involving the planning, directing, or operating of transportation systems and service, including specifically positions involving responsibility for operation of terminal facilities.
Qualifications
AIRFIELD OPERATIONS SPECIALIST, GS-2150-9: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-9 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. Specialized experience may have been demonstrated by: Experience, education, or training interpreting regulations/requirements and developing local policies to implement changes effectively; Experience applying applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations concerning transportation and traffic procedures; Experience preparing reports and recommendations involving appeals, special permits, adjustments in rates and charges; Experience which involved negotiations with carriers on individual shipments or traffic movement.

Education
Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: Undergraduate or graduate degree in on of the following a major studies: accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, nautical science, marine affairs, marine engineering, marine transportation, or other fields related to the position that demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work required.
