About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the U.S. Army Forces Command, USA Joint Readiness Training Center, Operations Group, Fort Johnson LA, 71459.

Duties

Serves as a Personnel Security (PERSEC) Assistant performing PERSEC functions and tasks for military, civilian, and contract personnel assigned or attached to Joint Readiness Training Center, Operations Group. Provides technical advice and support of PERSEC clearance actions including request security clearances, periodic reinvestigations, acceptance, and transmission of visitation requests. Assists with security education, training, and awareness (SETA).

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • May require Temporary Duty (TDY) travel up to 10% of the time.
  • During crisis or from tasking, may be required to work overtime or irregular shifts.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid stateside driver’s license and U.S. Government Vehicle driver’s license.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-07).
