About the Position: Serves as a Supervisory Social Worker (Clinical), in Behavioral Health (BH), independently plans and carries out assigned duties in accordance with general psychological theories, techniques and professional practice standards. Position is located at the Desmond T Doss Health Clinic on Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Duties
Provide bio-psychosocial evaluations, targeted assessments, diagnostic impressions, and treatment plans for behavioral health patients and their families.
Make behavioral health diagnoses and provide individual and group therapy using various modalities such as brief problem-focused psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and client-centered therapy.
Supervise assigned professional and paraprofessional employees, military personnel, federal civilian employees, and provide technical oversight to contract employees assigned to the Clinic.
Plan and organize work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust long and short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
Function as the authoritative source of information in the specialty of Social Work and behavioral health, independently planning and carrying out assigned duties in accordance with psychological theories, techniques and professional standards.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- Applicants must be able to fulfill non-privileged professional credential requirements.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
- Position may be designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.
- The incumbent may be expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during inclement weather conditions.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 30 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Supervisory Social Worker:
Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting psychological assessments; formulating diagnostic or treatment recommendations; providing individual or group therapy; and reviewing or approving modalities or therapies for patients.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Licensure: This position requires a current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction.
