Duties
As a second level supervisor, the incumbent assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, difficulty of assignments, and the capabilities of employees; provides technical oversight; develops performance plans, etc.
Incumbent applies principles, methods and practices of the Social Work profession to evaluate the needs for direct services, training, preventive education, causes of, and appropriate resolutions in the Family Advocacy Program arena.
Incumbent is the subject matter expert on the dynamics of abuse, treatment and prevention modalities, psycho social issues, social service delivery, case management and psycho educational approaches to assist individuals and families.
Incumbent ensures a comprehensive victim advocate program is in place for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Background/records checks, IAW DoDI 1402.05, AR 608-18 (MPs - NCIC, ASAP, ACR and State Child Protective Services) and Army Directive 2014-23, IMCOM G9 Memorandum, dated 26 June 2015 directing a CNACI, are required for this position.
- TDY is occasionally required.
- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours or uncommon tours of duty.
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Basic Requirement for Supervisory Social Worker:
Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing crisis interventions, developing behavioral health treatment plans, coordinating social work services for individuals involved in family violence, and supervising behavioral health employees and/or programs in a family advocacy environment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12)

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
