Duties

As a Supervisory Epidemiologist you will: Serve as the Branch Chief, Global Workforce Development Branch (GWDB). Collaborate with and coordinate the work of scientists from participating universities, medical institutions, health departments, Ministries of Health, and other involved agencies. Establish vision, goals, structure, priorities, and performance standards of the Branch. Provide expert consultation and support to public health officials, scientists, and administrators on effective Global Health Security and public health workforce development guidelines and strategies. Participate in all aspects of medical, scientific, and policy initiatives directed towards the achievement of goals in the program. Prepare or supervise the preparation of all reports, articles, or monographs describing findings from projects or studies. Develop methods for dealing with issues such as those presented in developing systems for monitoring of trends globally and in monitoring the delivery of services to infected persons or persons at risk.

Basic Qualifications: Applicants must have a Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (https://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/) at the time the degree was obtained. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify at the GS-15 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level, which must include the following experience: Providing guidance on epidemiologic topics for field epidemiology training programs globally and providing leadership, consultative advice and oversight carrying out field epidemiology activities and training through collaboration with international partners. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
