This position is located in the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of Administration (OA), Human Resources Division (HRD), Talent Management and Employee Services Branch (TMESB), Talent Management Team. Duties
Serves as a Human Resources Assistant in the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of Administration (OA), Human Resources Division (HRD), Talent Management and Employee Services Branch (TMESB), Talent Management Team.
Assists in the full lifecycle of the federal hiring process, to include: assisting Specialists in preparing job announcements in an automated staffing system for posting on USAJOBS and other appropriate platforms; responding to inquiries from job seekers and applicants during and after job postings, assisting Specialists with reviewing applications for minimum qualifications and eligibility requirements; and preparing and sending official offer letters and employment packages.
Manages OJP's LinkedIn Recruiter page and coordinates with OJP's Office of Communications for posting job announcements on OJP's social media accounts.
Coordinates, prepares for and provides orientation sessions to new employees, guides and assists new hires in completing enrollment and other necessary employment documentation, certifies employment paperwork, and maintains contact with the new employees following orientation to ensure successful onboarding.
Handles a diverse range of employee personnel transactions.
Utilizes the Guide to Processing Personnel Actions to determine appropriate nature of action codes and legal authorities for personnel actions and assists Specialists with coding Requests for Personnel Action (SF-52s). Ensures documents are accurate and complete, resolving missing or inaccurate data. Independently verifies the completeness, accuracy, and validity of actions recorded in employee files.
Supports various functions, including assisting with employee onboarding and out-processing, ensuring departing employees receive all necessary documentation, and overseeing transitional activities.
Assists Specialists with maintaining accuracy and updates in hiring tracking systems and spreadsheets. Manages various clerical tasks including report preparation, file maintenance, directive updates, and monitoring critical timelines. Extracts data from multiple sources for compiling reports and assumes responsibility for the accuracy of produced information. Utilizes a variety of software applications to create tailored documents and forms, including spreadsheets, databases, word processing documents, desktop publishing, graphics, and similar products.
Manages correspondence and communications between Talent Management and various parties, including applicants, candidates, selectees, new hires, and OJP employees.
Assists employees in resolving issues and discrepancies. Conducts research and offers technical guidance on inquiries from employees and officials within specialized areas. Researches and offers explanations to address inquiries from employees and agency officials regarding personnel issues.
Demonstrates tact and professionalism when interacting with individuals both inside and outside the organization. Collaborates with designated specialists assigned to specific organizational topics.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience:
Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Examples of specialized experience include:
Assisting HR Specialists with preparing recruitment documents, maintaining case files, and revieing applications for eligibilities and qualifications.
Coordinating and managing logistics for new employee orientation, to include completing and reviewing employment forms with new employees.
Providing guidance to employees and managers regarding a variety of HR procedures and matters.
Supporting various functions, including assisting with employee onboarding and out-processing, ensuring departing employees receive all necessary documentation, and overseeing transitional activities.
