This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position it located at the Yuma Proving Grounds , Yuma AZ.

Duties

Serves as police officer to perform law enforcement work to maintain law and order, preserve the peace, protect life and civil rights. Responds to and investigates emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service. Collects and preserves evidence, conducts long and short-term investigations on criminal cases and analyze facts to identify suspects. Conducts traffic law enforcement patrol using specialized equipment such as radar, Lidar and breathalyzer. Assures criminal or Antiterrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) measures are met to protect installation command and assure mission accomplishment.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy; or successfully graduate within 12 months of hire date; or is a current employee and is considered grandfathered IAW AR 190-56.
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical / psychiatric evaluation.
  • Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter.
  • Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
  • This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program.
  • The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
  • Incumbent in this position is designated as Mission Essential (IAW DODI 3024.42 and DTM 17-004)position during Inclement Weather Conditions or other designed/identified emergency conditions.
  • Incumbent must possess a valid state drivers license.
  • Incumbent must possess or obtain a valid government motor vehicle operators license.
  • Comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
  • Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
  • Official Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 10% of the time may be required.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GS 06 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service which includes applying basic laws and regulations to maintain order of protection concerning life and property; conducting vehicle and/or foot patrols; controlling access to restricted areas by verifying credentials and responding to emergency calls for assistance. GS 07 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes: performing a full range of law enforcement functions involving interpreting and/or applying discretion of law enforcement concerning Federal or State criminal laws and regulations, utilizing standard law enforcement techniques such as responding to calls involving crimes ranging from simple violations to felonies and ensuring the protection of health and safety for public who may be at risk for an organization.
