This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located in Yuma, AZ on the Boarder of California and Mexico.

Duties

Responds to and investigates emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service. Collects and preserves evidence, conducts long and short-term investigations on criminal cases and analyze facts to identify suspects. Provides sworn testimony based on the investigative process, evidence gathered, witness statements in criminal and traffic courts. Conducts traffic law enforcement patrol using specialized equipment such as radar, Lidar and breathalyzer. Apprehends violators as required by applicable laws or regulations. Responds to radio calls or reports situations that are general assistance.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy; or successfully graduate within 12 months of hire date; or is a current employee and is considered grandfathered IAW AR 190-56.
  • Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical / psychiatric evaluation.
  • Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter.
  • Comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
  • This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program.
  • The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
  • Incumbent in this position is designated as Mission Essential (IAW DODI 3024.42 and DTM 17-004)position during Inclement Weather Conditions or other designed/identified emergency conditions.
  • Incumbent must possess a valid state drivers license.
  • Incumbent must possess a valid government motor vehicle operators license.
  • Incumbent must be able obtain and maintain a valid Secret security clearance.
  • Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
  • Official Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 10% of the time may be required.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or in judicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience GS-06: One year of specialized experience which includes performing installation security and access control activities maintaining order and protecting life and property. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Specialized Experience GS-07: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes responding to and investigates emergency call and/or complaints related to law enforcement. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06)
