Qualifications
NOTE: You must meet qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
To qualify for the GS-13 level, you must have 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level defined as experience developing and researching sustainable materials management strategies. Examples include overseeing grant programs; implementing strategies to reduce, reuse and recycle municipal and industrial materials throughout their life cycle; provide assistance to various partners and stakeholders on sustainable materials management projects to reduce the impact of materials on the environment.
Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of environmental regulations, directives and principles related to waste reduction, sustainable materials management and/or conservation of natural resources.
Knowledge of waste reduction and sustainable materials management principles and practices to devise integrated approaches to reduce waste and minimize the environmental impacts of materials.
Knowledge of federal grants, cooperative agreements and interagency agreements regulations, policies and procedures.
Skill in oral communication, including presentation skills.
Skill in written communication.
Ability to develop, implement and manage projects.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
