You will serve as a HR ASSISTANT (MILITARY) in the NAVAL EDUCATION AND TRANING COMMAND of NROTC COLLEGE STA. SALARY FOR GS-5 $39,576 - $51,446 SALARY FOR GS-6 $44,117 - $57-354 A recruitment / relocation incentive of up to $15,000, may be offered, Not to Exceed the amount allowed under 5 CFR 575.

Duties

You will revise information from personnel records or files to maintain accuracy. You will manage applicant data using software programs (e.g., Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, or similar software application). You will collaborate with customers to identify and obtain missing personnel documents. You will perform administrative duties such as: travel support, obtain, evaluate, and process medical program requirements, pre-commissioning packets and officer’s records, and provide support to Activity Security Manager (ASM).

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

FOR THE GS-06 POSITION: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Maintaining filing systems of various records; 2) Entering data into automated database systems; 3) Reviewing documents for completeness and compliance with established guidelines; and 4) Utilizing office automation equipment and software in order to prepare a variety of forms and correspondence. FOR THE GS-05 POSITION: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Understanding human resources procedures; 2) Using a personal computer to prepare documents; 3) Ability to use software programs to extract, revise, or sort data; and 4) Receiving calls, greeting visitors, responding to routine requests for information.
