This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Superintendent, Western Nevada Agency in Carson City, Nevada. This position will assist in managing the day-to-day administrative support functions associated with the operation of the Superintendent's office.
NOTE:TRAVEL AND RELOCATION EXPENSES WILL NOT BE AUTHORIZED. ANY RELOCATION EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH REPORTING FOR DUTY WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SELECTED EMPLOYEE.
Duties
Supports the management of the Regional Director's Office, and respective branches, by independently performing a wide range of administrative support work
Serves as a payroll coordinator and Quicktime user for the Director's office
Prepares a variety of reports, forms, and correspondence in final form from rough draft, written, and/or oral instructions

Qualifications
This position is OPEN UNTIL FILLED and may be extended or closed prior to the current closing date. Applications will be reviewed every two weeks; the first cut-off date for applications is 10 business days from the opening date and every two weeks thereafter. Applicants with 10-point Veterans' Preference who submit a complete application after each two week cut-off date, but before the List of Eligibles is issued, will be considered and referred on the List, if qualified. Applications will remain active for 3 months.
Applicants who meet at least one of the following requirements may qualify for the position at the GS-5 level -
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 level obtained in either the public or private sector performing clerical work such as preparing, receiving, reviewing and verifying documents; maintaining office records; and locating and compiling data or information from files and other data sources.
Four years of education above the high school level.
A combination of education and specialized experience listed above totaling 100%. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours is creditable as a substitute for specialized experience.
Applicants who meet the following requirement may qualify for the position at the GS-6 level -
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 level obtained in either the public or private sector creating a variety of correspondence in proper formats using word processing programs; routing official correspondence; managing calendars and meeting schedules for management; providing administrative support such as answering telephone calls and greeting visitors; serving as a point-of-contact for an office; & performing data entry into an automated timekeeping system.
Applicants who meet the following requirement may qualify for the position at the GS-7 level -
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-6 level obtained in either the public or private sector performing specialized office tasks including making travel arrangements for executive staff; compiling information from a variety of sources to prepare reports for executive staff; preparing supply requisitions according to established rules; & providing direct support and technical assistance to branch managers, supervisors, and staff in departments such as finance, human resources, procurement, property and supply, and Indian self-determination.

Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date.

One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must send a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with your transcript in order to receive credit for that education which shows the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
