Duties
As a TRAINING SPECIALIST (INSTRUCTOR) at the GS-1712-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Implements, evaluates, and coordinates USTRANSCOM's education and evaluation programs.
Recommends various courses of action to ensure senior leadership has alternatives to resolve problems associated with USTRANSCOM training programs.
Performs evaluations of a full range of USTRANSCOM and its subordinate command's training programs and develops and executes improvement and enhancement plans.
Prepares and delivers written reports and oral presentations, including briefings, training sessions, consultations, orientations, and discussions with USTRANSCOM leadership, supervisors, co- workers, and customers.
Conducts extensive analysis of available facts, applicable directives, laws, and other guidelines, which may be only partially relevant, in the resolution for dealing with especially difficult and complex problems and particularly controversial issues.

- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or Shift work may be required which may
include overtime and/or irregular hours
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/vehicle to
conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location. Travel may include overnight stays.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-13 level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
Developing and implementing policies concerning management of training programs.
Reviewing training operations to ensure that they meet legal and regulatory compliance requirements.
Preparing various types of guidance for other training specialists on how to respond to various issues or problems.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
In addition to meeting qualifications, your application package must reflect the applicable experience to meet the Individual Occupational Requirements for the 1712 series.
A. Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.
OR
B. Specialized Experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s); Supervising or administering a training program; Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results; Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
