About the Position: This position works under the delegated authority of the supervising physician and is responsible for the overall daily management of the Ultrasound Section. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Recruitment or relocation incentives MAY be authorized. Hours: 1st Shift (on call, holidays and weekends as needed) Supervise Ultrasound section

Duties

Manage the day-to-day operation of the Ultrasound section to include patient flow, protocols, policies and procedures. Mentoring and professional development of staff and students. Train radiologists, physician assistants, students and other personnel in ultrasound capabilities, techniques, and equipment. Perform operator level maintenance and care of equipment.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires a seasonal influnenza vaccine.
  • This position may have specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties may require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
  • Selectees may be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • A pre-placement medical examination may be required.
  • May be required to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and subject to applicant testing and random drug testing for employees.
  • This position may require you to work evenings/nights, on-call schedules, rotating shifts, extended hours, weekends, holidays and/or other schedules common to hospital operations.
  • This position may require you to wear and use personal protective equipment as required and provided by the employer.
  • This position is weather essential. Employee may be required to report to work during periods of inclement weather.
  • Employee may be required to lift up to 45 pounds without assistance. Assistance is required when lifting over 45 pounds.
  • Employee may be required to obtain and maintain certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Sonography.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing a variety of ultrasound examinations of human patients such as obstetrical, extremities, transvaginal, and/or deep vein thrombosis (DVT); setting up, adjusting, and maintaining ultrasound diagnostic equipment; and/or performing high level disinfectant sterilization procedures such as Trophon within a medical facility. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
