Duties

The position performs docketing and complex legal report development using computerized case tracking and record-keeping systems in the United States Attorneys Office (USAO). Serves as a source of procedural and systemic information on all aspects of docketing systems for Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) and legal support staff. The automated systems are tools which provide information used to manage litigation from initial referral to final disposition and to provide comprehensive data for resource planning and evaluation. Typical work assignments will include but are not limited to: Functions as docketing system subject matter expert and trains other employees on related processes and procedures. Maintains and extracts data from automated docketing databases and systems. Provides legal support services to AUSAs. Produces a variety of written documents and materials utilizing a wide range of office automation applications. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Requirements

  • You must be a United States Citizen or National.
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess and demonstrate in their application packages that they meet the following minimum qualifications: GS-07: To be eligible at the GS-07 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level. Specialized experience is defined as experience using advanced automation techniques to extract legal data from automated databases; conducting periodic case certification reviews; utilizing knowledge of legal terminology, litigation processes and court proceedings to properly docket and identify errors in either input of documents or in the computer record; recommending revision of office procedures to improve the docketing and case management function. There is no education substitution for this grade level. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy.
