The Airway Transportation Systems Specialist (ATSS) at this level is recognized as the subject matter expert in their field. All duties of an ATSS are tied to maintaining a safe and efficient operating capacity of the vast and complex network of electronics systems required for the world's largest air traffic control and navigation system.
Duties
Serves as an ATSS (Environmental/Power Systems), responsible for performing a variety of functions directly relating to the operation of the NAS.
Requirements
- US Citizenship is required.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents).
- Designated or Random Drug Testing required.
- Supervisor's Endorsement is required for a permanent promotion.
- An endorsement is not required if ingrade or downgrade.
- Incumbent must possess a valid driver's license.
- Security Requirement: Noncritical Sensitive (2); this position requires completion and favorable adjudication of a National Agency Check and Inquiry (NACI) background investigation prior to appointment, unless a waiver is obtained.
- This is a temporary position not to exceed two-years; it may be terminated sooner, extended, or made permanent without further competition.
Qualifications
There is no timeframe requirement at the Level III/FV-H to compete. Candidates must show experience at the level of difficulty and responsibility that is appropriate to the position. Experience that demonstrates an extensive knowledge of and experience in technology system interrelationships, and management of civilian or military automated aviation, navigation, and electronics systems. Knowledge of Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS), DCBUSS, EG, Visual Approach Slop Indicator (VASI), Precision Approach Plan Indicator (PAPI). Approach Lighting System (ALSF), Medium Intensity Approach Lighting System (MALSF), Runway End Identification
Lights (REIL), Environmental Remote Monitoring System (ERMS), Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), and Dual Redundant Power Distribution Systems (DRPDS). Generally, experience at the next lower level Pay Band H/level III or FG/GS-12 or equivalent, meets the minimum qualifications for this position as long as the experience supports the demonstrated abilities identified below.A highly qualified candidate will have certification on (CPDS) Critical Power Distribution System and experience with one or more of the following systems: (CLEAN) Photovoltaic System (PAPI) Precision Approach Path Indicator (VASI) Visual Approach Slope Indicator (MALSR) Medium Intensity Approach Lighting System Air Conditioning, (REIL) Runway End Identifier Lights), (CHILR) Chillers, (HEAT) Boilers, (SFAS) Security and Fire Alarm Systems. (DCBUS) DC Battery Backups System, (ERMS) Environmental Remote Monitoring System, (MX) Mobile Engine, (SX) Standby Engine Generator, (MUPS) Mini-Uninterruptible Power Supply, General maintenance of (ATCT) Towers (ELVTR) Elevator, (NASET) NAS Equipment Tower, (ATBM) TRACON's and other (NASEB) GNAS type facilities.Eligible applicants meeting the minimum qualification requirements may be further evaluated on the Demonstrated Abilities listed in the announcement.
