You will serve as a TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST in the NAVY SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT ACTIVITY. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.

Duties

You will be responsible for overseeing the development, execution, and implementation of transportation missions on a global basis. You will plan, schedule, and process eligible cargo. You will serve as an HMTO (Hazardous Material Transportation Office) subject matter expert on the transportation of AA and E (Ammunition and Explosives), other HAZMAT (hazardous material), and non-HAZMAT. You will study and build comprehensive knowledge of new developments in the transportation of classified material, Ammunition and Explosives, other hazardous materials, and non-hazardous materials. You will identify issues associated with security, compliance, and enforcement policies and procedures. You will review reports regarding transportation incidents involving classified material, Ammunition and Explosives, other hazardous materials, and non-hazardous materials.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • You must acknowledge in writing that you are accepting an appointment in the excepted service which does not confer competitive status, prior to appointment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience includes duties related to the following: Performing a wide variety of complex assignments related to the evaluation of the movement, safety, security, transportation, and storage of HAZMAT by all modes of transportation (land, air, and sea). Preparing HAZMAT for shipment to include, but not limited to mission planning, safety review, problem resolution, transportation/storage coordination and issue of waivers in accordance with organizational standard operating procedures. Searching, collecting, interpreting, analyzing, and developing complete technical information and data on various systems for the purpose of recovery and transport missions. Identifying HAZMAT issues associated with safety, security, compliance and enforcement policies and procedures.
