Duties
In this position, you will:
Perform a wide variety of administrative and analytical duties connected with the review, justification, and presentation of the budgets for a bureau or major component(s) of a bureau.
Provide advice to top management on the Federal budget process. May develop, recommend, and implement budgetary policies affecting the financing and accomplishment of national programs.
Provide long-range analysis of the potential effects of budgetary actions on national economic, social, and political objectives.
Review, approve, disapprove, and recommend the amount and timing of allotments of funds to agency components and programs.
Track the progress of bureau appropriations through Congress.
Provide liaison between DOC Budget staff and bureau budget office.
Create, calculate, and analyze cost allocation methodologies, pricing, and budget spending plans.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements
To qualify at the GS-13 level: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the federal service. Specialized experience is defined as assisting in creating, calculating, and analyzing cost allocation methodologies, pricing, and budget spending plans. It also involves creating reports using tools such as Microsoft Excel or Access, utilizing VLookup or Pivot Tables to summarize data, and assisting in preparing OMB, Congressional, or Secretarial Budget submissions.
To qualify at the GS-14 level: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the federal service. Specialized experience is defined as creating, calculating, and analyzing cost allocation methodologies, pricing, and budget spending plans. It also involves creating reports using tools such as Microsoft Excel or Access, utilizing VLookup or Pivot Tables to summarize data, and preparing OMB, Congressional, or Secretarial Budget submissions.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
