About the Position:
This a temporary not to exceed October 20, 2025 position as an Administrative Support Assistant (OA) with the U.S. Army Chaplain School, Fort Jackson, SC
Duties
Determine work priorities, coordination requirements and informational needs of the organization based on polices and program goals.
Provide advice/assistance on a wide variety of management administrative projects, studies, and initiatives which support the accomplishment of the organization’s mission.
Develop and coordinates plans in support of scheduled events such as classes, operations mission, briefings and other meetings supporting U.S. Army Chaplain Center and School.
Provide guidance and information to students, external/internal employees to resolve problems and complete mission requirements.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

Current Department of Army Civilian Employees Applying on Time-Limited Assignments
Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed 13 months by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however, return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing General administrative functions and procedures within an organization; skill in development and dissemination of administrative directives; consolidation of reports; management of correspondence, records, billings and the coordination of training classes. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
OR
Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Management. (NOTE: You MUST attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
Qualified Typist Required
This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
