Duties
Develop and provide documentation and measurement tools to track work processes, monitor performance and identify trends.
Monitor and analyze the timeliness and accuracy of appointment scheduling and identify opportunities for improvement.
Coordinate work with other PSSD supervisors and may be requested to oversee other PSSD functions as requested.
Collaborate with Clinical Center Nursing and other department and institute staff when new clinic programs are started to identify the requirements/support needed from medical support assistants.
Conduct and document reviews for measuring the efficiency and effectiveness of front desk administrative operations and collaborate with the Clinical Center Departments to implement quality control plans.
Review the administrative support work and implement modifications to processes, programs and guidance to ensure efficiencies.
Provide supervsiory leadership and direction to a staff of program support assistants and medical support assistants.
Oversee the distribution of patient travel funds and ensure all requests comply with guidelines, policies and regulations.
Oversee patient admissions operations to include creation and use of electronic medical records, patient pre-registration activities, and miscellaneous after-hours, weekend and holiday functions from other departments.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.

- Some positions may require rotational shifts, weekend hours, and holiday hours. Other positions may require night shifts.
- This position may have on-call or call-back requirements.
- The work is sedentary. There may be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items.
Qualifications
You qualify at the GS-11 grade level if you meet one of the following qualification requirements:
A. At least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: 1) Reviewing front desk administrative operations in a healthcare setting to determine areas of improvement; 2) Assisting with the modification of program operation activities in order to enhance patient care and overall patient experience; 3) Maintaining program compliance with The Joint Commission standards and other regulatory health care requirements; 4) Assisting with the oversight of the appointment scheduling and admission/registration requests for a department; 5) Assisting with fiscal management responsibilities for equipment and supplies;
OR:
B. Completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or an LL.M., if related;
OR:
C. A combination of education and specialized experience that meets the qualification requirements for this position.
