This position is located in the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center that supports the Intramural Research Program of the National Institutes of Health. The incumbent serves as the Environmental Services (EVS) Coordinator responsible for ensuring the uninterrupted housekeeping operations for the entire NIH Clinical Center as well as for the CRC institutes' laboratories, food service cafeterias and cafes of the NIH Clinical Center, the Cloisters, and the Edmond J. Safra Family Lodge.

Duties

Ensures contractor compliance with contractual requirements, appropriate infection prevention, safety, OSHA, Joint Commission and regulatory standards. This includes cleaning of the NIH Clinical Center patient rooms, offices, ancillary departments, outpatient areas, public areas (including cafeterias and cafes), laboratories in the CRC, and the Family Lodge, and the provision of other environmental services. As the EVS Coordinator, the incumbent is responsible for the planning, organization, direction, management, and review of all environmental service programs which include the following environmental services: environmental health and sanitation, Bio-hazardous waste, waste management, loading dock management, maintenance of sanitary and visual cleanliness for hospital floors and windows. For each of these programs, the incumbent coordinates the services with CC staff and the contractors who each provide the individual services. The incumbent serves as the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) Level III for the Environmental Services Contract for the NIH CC and is authorized to act on behalf of the Department in matters related to monitoring and overseeing the technical and programmatic aspects of the contract.

Requirements

  • This position has been designated as a Tier I "Emergency Employee" position.
  • The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, or recurring and considerable crouching, bending, standing, stooping, stretching, or walking such as in performing regular and recurring activities and inspections.
  • The work that may be performed in an office setting, the duties involve regular and recurring visits to hospital locations. Such visits may require use of appropriate protective clothing and observance of appropriate safety precautions.

Qualifications

You qualify at the GS-13 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirement: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: participating in the quality assurance evaluation of a Clinical Environmental Services Program; coordinating the implementation of practices/processes for the improvement of a Clinical Environmental Services Program; initiating and awarding procurement of services or commodities in a clinical setting; preparing and disseminating contractor services statements of work, evaluation criteria, and sole source justifications of services for assigned project awards; and providing technical guidance and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
