This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement, Office of Communications located in Washington DC.

Requirements
- You must be a U.S. citizen
- Subject to financial disclosure requirements. You cannot own any direct or indirect financial interest in a coal mining operation
- Males born after 12/31/59 must be registered for Selective Service or meet an approved exemption
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period
- Suitable for Federal employment, determined by a background investigation
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
To qualify for this position you must meet the Specialized Experience for the series to which you are applying.
Specialized Experience
To qualify for the GS-13, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: Managing public affairs activities and tasks associated with Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act implementation that includes coordinating media relations, social media, congressional affairs, internal information, and digital communications with appropriate public affairs leads; Coordinating between subject matter experts of your agency and between program leads and public information officers of States and Tribes Abandoned Mine Land Programs on Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act implementation matters; and Managing an annual awards program.
Merit promotion applicants must meet time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.
One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level.
