You will serve as a LIBRARY TECHNICIAN for the NAVAL POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL. Salary Range: $49,262-$64,037 Salary Range: $61,023-$79,331

Duties

You will be responsible for the interlibrary loan and document delivery processes within the library. You will process the lending of library materials to other libraries and borrow materials from lending libraries and institutions for faculty, staff, and students including distance learning students. You will create reports, such as those that capture statistical data and collection inventory, as requested, utilizing the reports module of the automated circulation system. You will aid in maintaining access control lists and in conduct briefings for cleared library users eligible for after-hours access to the Restricted Resources and Services facility. You will upload new student records into the automated circulation system and advise the library systems office of changes and additions to curricula and other categories of information. You will back up the Information Desk and may be responsible for opening and closing the library and securing the building at the end of the work day. You will process library resources for incorporation into the library collections as well as maintain and modify records in the catalog to reflect changes in holdings, series, titles, and/or other information.

  • Daily work involves sitting for prolonged periods, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and climbing on stools to reach items on high shelves.
  • Performs tasks requiring moderate exertion, such as moving loaded book carts, carrying heavy volumes, or performing book shifts, requiring repetitive motions for extended periods.

Qualifications

GS-07 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing automated library circulation procedures to preform duties such as issuance of library cards and charging in and out of library material; 2) Performing basic cataloging functions to create and remove records for library materials; and 3) Utilizing library's databases and electronic resources to answer directional and recurring questions from users. GS-05 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Processing requests and handling the lending of library materials; 2) Utilizing search techniques to locate library patrons requested material on-line; 3) Assisting with the shelving, searching, and inventorying of library materials.
