Duties

You will review Safety Management System objectives to identify and correct deficiencies in established programs You will track hazard abatement actions in automated systems. You will implement mishap prevention measures according to regulations and safety standards. You will develop mishap reporting and investigation guidance for proper completion of assignments by personnel. You will conduct risk management studies on operations or exercises to assist others with risk management safety decisions.

Requirements

  • Incumbent must be able to complete training courses as delineated in OPNAVINST 5100.23 series and the NAVFAC Safety Community Management plan.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Developing safety program policies, procedures, and guidance on a recurring basis for best practices; 2) Applying a wide variety of trade and labor occupations to identify failures in human or equipment performance and to recommend control measures; 3) Using mishap investigation techniques and Human Factors Analysis Classification System (HFACS) sufficient enough to investigate mishaps, determine casual factors, and provide recommendations; 4) Using Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), safety data information systems, and other computer programs sufficient enough to collect, organize, communicate, and evaluate a safety program; and 5) Applying leadership principles to lead and inspire people and organizational change.
