Duties

Performs simple and routine work involved in the maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings and related utilities, requiring the use of a variety of trade practices associated with occupations such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, cement work, painting, and other related trades. Applicant must be able to complete the identified basic tasks to perform the function of the position. Equipment, vehicle and building maintenance and repair serve as the major duties for this position. Performs custodial work such as sweeping, scrubbing and waxing floors, washing windows and walls, dusting and polishing furniture and fixtures. Work is done by hand or with powered equipment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Exerts heavy physical effort in tasks such as frequent lifting and moving objects weighing 30 to 50 unassisted and 70 pounds with assistance. Extensive walking, bending, and lifting above the head are required. Required to work outside in all kinds of weather conditions and inside work involves exposure to dust, drafts, and fumes. Motor vehicles are driven in all types of traffic and weather on public roads.
