This position is located in Region II, Division of Reactor Projects, Branch 3, St. Lucie, Jensen Beach, FL. The supervisor is Alan Blamey.  This position is Non Bargaining Unit. This position is subject to Confidential Financial Disclosure Reporting requirements. This position is subject to security ownership restriction reporting requirements. Resident salary is based on Table 9 plus the Miami Port St. Lucie-Fort Lauderdale, FL locality adjustment of 24.42%.  The relocation incentive is 15%.

Duties

The successful candidate will perform the full range of Senior Resident Inspector (PWR/TL) duties.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.  A description of how you possess the specialized experience as well as how you meet the qualifications desired in an ideal candidate should be addressed in your resume.  You may also provide additional information related to your qualifications in the vacancy question provided for supplemental response.  The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:1. Knowledge of nuclear power plant operations, systems, integrated facility operations, and design consistent with that gained through assignment as a resident inspector.2. Ability to observe, evaluate, and assess the operations of nuclear power plants including events.3. Ability to apply NRC rules, regulations, policies, guides and review plans in the review or inspection of reactor operations, maintenance, engineering and plant support.4. Ability to lead, train, and assess performance of other assigned inspectors and part-time office administrative assistant.5. Ability to present technical information both orally and in writing. In addition to the basic requirements, to qualify for this position you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as: Experience that demonstrates your ability to implement the NRC regulatory program, including application of NRC standards, and rules and regulations for nuclear facilities. Strong knowledge of basic nuclear technology, operating safety procedures, radiological safety, codes, standards, and procedures is also required.

Education

A bachelor's degree or higher degree in a relevant professional engineering discipline e.g.,(nuclear, electrical, mechanical, metallurgical, civil, structural, mechanical) from a school of engineering with at least one professional engineering curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. If you do not possess such a professional engineering degree, you may still satisfy the professional knowledge requirements if you have current Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration in one of the relevant disciplines from any U.S. State or Territory, or if you successfully passed an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) written examination administered by a State Board of Engineering Examiners; or if you have either a related professional degree or at least 60 semester hours of specified engineering-related college courses combined with at least a year of professional engineering work experience performed under professional engineer  or nuclear power plant work experience.
