White City VA Medical Center is recruiting at fill an Environmental Management Training Program Supervisor that oversees training for all housekeeping employees of Environmental Management Service (EMS) and is located in White City, Oregon.
Duties
The Environmental Management Training Program Supervisor and oversees training for all housekeeping employees of Environmental Management Service (EMS) and supervises directly four (4) to five (5) Wage Leader (WL-2) Trainers along with Veteran patients in the Transitional Work Experience (TWE) Custodial Training Program (40- 70). The incumbent who is qualified and capable to perform and teach the full range of supervisory and instructional duties to janitorial employees including other EMS supervisors, and patients in the TWE Custodial Program which is under the Environmental Management Service department within the Facilities Management Service. Work performed by patients requires a much higher level of difficulty in supervision, authority for work direction and responsibility for achieving a similar standard of quality of work within reason based upon restrictions of hours and abilities as that of civilian Federal employees. Incumbent coordinates the daily operational activity of established policies and procedures, Department of Veterans Affairs SORCC and Facilities Management Service inclusive.
Other Duties Include:
Oversee and plan subordinate workers for the housekeeping training for all employees and the TWE training, and the Housekeeping Aid Training (HAT) program along with required safety training and evaluation for any other EMS Incentive Therapy (IT) or TWE Veterans in linen, uniform room, and the Patient Assistance Program.
Must verify competency of various trainees.
Must plan work for employees and TWE trainees and work groups.
Provides standard, training for TWEs and Incentive Therapy patients within Housekeeping and in other areas of EMS such as Resident Assistance Program, Linen, and Uniforms.
Plans work for subordinate worker employees and Veterans for equipment needed, materials required and tools necessary to complete on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis including setting deadlines for subordinates.
Establish and/or adhere to work priorities, plan schedules, and detail work required per plans to higher level supervisors.
Provides direct input on production and planning involving long range work and training requirements.
Required to verify competency for other EMS functions in conjunction with fellow supervisors and establishes training guidelines and deadlines for other supervisors.
Plans the work for his unit to provide adequate and customary work cycles and sequences of work for sanitation coverage to public/patient areas using general policies and work schedules established by a higher level of supervision.
Determines priorities and assigns unit personnel to meet these.
Plans for work coverage in emergency situations to minimize serious interruptions to routine operations.
Plans coverage to various administrative and clinical areas and makes recommended changes in schedules and minor variations in procedures to overcome problems with equipment failures, material delays, or unplanned absences.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The work performed may require continuous walking, standing, stooping, stretching and lifting. Manual effort may be necessary during training sessions or in emergency situations. Work involves light to heavy physical effort in the following; frequently lifting or moving objects weighing fifty pounds, constant standing, walking and occasionally lifting over fifty pounds. Work is performed in all area of the Medical Center. Incumbent demonstrates a cooperative attitude towards supervisor and subordinates as well as other facility employees, patients and visitors. Be able to operate and demonstrate the use of all EMS equipment.
