About the Position:Serves as a senior Public Affairs specialist responsible for researching, assembling, writing and disseminating sensitive, critical and complex information for both internal and external public on a wide variety of subjects in support of the Army's mission. This position is located in Arlington, VA.

Duties

Develops media plans, media strategies and media events for assigned accounts in support of overall Army objectives. Plans, develops and directs the communication of Department of Army information programs, policies and actions concerning current Army operations. Assist in determining and carrying out the objectives of the Army public affairs programs. Coordinates, schedules and facilitates Senior Army Leader media engagements. Develop public affairs plans for specific issues or projects, addressing the needs of the target audience, most appropriate communication techniques, and recommended approaches. Research proposed responses to national and international news queries for assigned accounts in support of overall Army objectives.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • You may be expected to travel up to 10% for this position.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes preparing oral presentations to defend public affairs; and assisting in responding to national media queries; providing advice to staff proponents on the appropriate electronic media outlets, suitability and appropriate release timing concerning assigned accounts; and preparing proposed answers to assist civilian news media with questions on national and international news. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communication CounselCommunications and MediaOrganizational AwarenessPlanning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
