About the Position: This position is located with the Army Sustainment Command, Army Field Support Brigade - CONUS West, LSE, Fort Riley KS.

Duties

Serves as a Food Service Specialist responsible for Army Food Management Information System (AFMIS) administration. Serves as the primary technical authority for quality assurance requirements, policies, and procedures. Acts as a Quality Assurance Evaluator (QAE) and Alternate Contracting Officer Representative (ACOR) for Food Service contracts. Monitors DFAC accounts, inventory status, headcounts and cash meal payment turn-ins. Uses AFMIS for program review and compiles food program performance reports. Conducts analysis of data within AFMIS for program requirements (DFAC headcount, subsistence account status, menu compliance). Plans, coordinates, and evaluates a comprehensive quality assurance program. Develops and conducts quality assurance training. Plans, directs, organizes, coordinates for equipment replacement, vendor repair of equipment. Maintains records on all food service equipment for replacement. Evaluates requirements for new equipment and modernization of dining facilities, food trucks and kiosks/bistros. Develops policies and instruction, conducts analysis for new food service equipment.

  • This position requires the incumbent drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required and must be maintained for the position.

Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled which includes: coordinating logistical support for food service operations, advising directors and commanders on food program and operations, researching and processing food service equipment purchases, updating food program and subsistence supply automated systems, and inspecting contractor work performance to ensure standards are met. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position (or equalivent) in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Food Service, Hospitality Management, and Culinary Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Food ServiceManages ResourcesPlanning and EvaluatingTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
