Duties

Receives, reviews, and submits requests for personnel clearances for serviced civilian, contractor, and military personnel. Uses computer software such as analysis tools to research and facilitate work. Performs duties related to assisting suitability adjudications/determinations for the fitness and suitability of civilian employees, contractors and/or applicants for initial and continuing employment retention. Executes established policies and procedures required for the personnel security program. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • This position is INDEFINITE NTE 24 months, with possible extension up to 60 months, and permanent potential.
  • Attend the ARNG Security Manager Course within 12 months of hire.
  • Obtain the Security Professional Certification(s) within 24 months of hire
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration.
  • The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial vehicles to perform temporary duty assignments.

Qualifications

MILITARY GRADES: : E5 THROUGH E7 COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENTS: 35, 17, 25, 42 The policy to have a compatible MOS/AFSC has been suspended. When reinstated, you will have one year to meet the qualifications of this position or meet the requirements in the guidance set by NGB. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have the experiences, education, or training that demonstrates the ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Must have the knowledge and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade for one of the seven organizational program disciplines and its applicable Security Series career level. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 24 months of specialized experience, education, or training performing periodic onsite surveys, to determine compliance with applicable occupational safety standards. Prepared or revised safety instructions and guides. Advised personnel of appropriate safety and occupational health measures to control or eliminate hazardous operating processes which may cause mishaps. Investigated mishaps, obtained statements from witnesses, and photographed mishap scenes. Recorded circumstances of mishaps and extent of injuries, prepared final report(s) of findings with recommendations to correct the unsafe acts or conditions which caused injuries or property damage. Must have at least 12 months of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level. Education

You may combine education with specialized experience to meet the length of experience requirement for GS-09. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

To receive credit for Education, you must provide transcripts or documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
