This is a Full-Time, Permanent position in the Office of Admissions at the United States Merchant Marine Academy.

As a Lead Admissions Assistant (OA), you will:

Qualifications

To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must (1) meet the Education Requirement for the series, (2) provide a copy of transcripts for verification, AND (3) meet either the education or experience qualifications for the grade at which you are requesting consideration. To qualify for the GS-09 on Experience, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-07 it must include: Experience performing and delegating a variety of administrative and staff support duties for an organization that requires a high level of customer service and attention to detail. Experience collaborating with others toward deadlines and during a candidate evaluation process. Experience establishing or improving processes necessary to support administrative and technical functions of an office. Experience using various software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook to prepare and update electronic correspondence, instructions, reports and other documents. To qualify for the GS-09 on Education alone, you must have 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or have been awarded a master's or equivalent graduate degree. You can also qualify based on a combination of graduate education and experience. This must be fully supported by your resume and transcripts, provided with your application. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Attention to Detail- Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Clerical- Knowledge of filing, typing, entering data, maintaining records, taking shorthand, and using and completing forms. Computer Skills- - Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work. Interpersonal Skills- Shows understanding, friendliness, courtesy, tact, empathy, concern, and politeness to others; develops and maintains effective relationships with others; may include effectively dealing with individuals who are difficult, hostile, or distressed; relates well to people from varied backgrounds and different situations; is sensitive to cultural diversity, race, gender, disabilities, and other individual differences. Oral Communications- - Makes clear and convincing oral presentations. Listens effectively; clarifies information as needed.
