About the Position: Serves as a Telecommunications Specialist in the G/J6, Operations Division of the Joint Task Force-National Capital Region (JTF­NCR)/United States Army Military District of Washington (USAMDW). Responsible as the technical expert for the continuity of operations and maintenance of the United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) Deployable Communications Capabilities System (DCCS) Communications interoperability between military and civil response forces.

Duties

Provide coordination, implementation, integration, and support affecting technical aspects of computer systems administration, network and information management within the USNORTHCOM Deployable Communications Capabilities System (DCCS). Enforce Information Assurance policies and procedures and determines system vulnerabilities and resolves security issues. Provide network management, systems administration, and technical services for operational accounts within the parts of the Deployable Communications Capabilities System DCCS Support Satellite services for access to the Deployable Communications Capabilities System (DCCS) associated Information Technology (IT) to include Network and Satellite services. Manage, order, install, and connect communications modems and other equipment throughout the headquarters, ensuring that all installations comply with appropriate Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Army (DA), and commercial standards. Utilize automated network management tools to monitor a multimillion-dollar communications network. Utilizes special diagnostic tools to troubleshoot and restore local area networks communications.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • You may be expected to travel up to 25% for this position.
  • One-year trial/probationary period may be required.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
