National Defense University (NDU) supports the joint warfighter by providing rigorous Joint Professional Military Education to members of the U.S. Armed Forces and select others in order to develop leaders who have the ability to operate and creatively think in an unpredictable and complex world.
Duties
Manages cellular device program, property accountability, telecommunications billing services, and acquires commercial or DoD telecommunications services.
Responsible for inside cable plant installation and documentation of the University's telecommunications infrastructure.
Responsible for performing a wide variety of design and technical functions involving the accomplishment of major facility and telecommunications engineering projects.
Participates in discussions, meetings, committees, or special projects and presents briefings and prepares recommendations and reports.
Develops instructions and related procedures to be used in providing training of individuals and teams involved in the operations and maintenance of similar equipment.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National
- Background and Security Investigation: Must obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
- May be required to be on call and may be required to perform emergency overtime.
- In accordance with DoD 8570.1-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program (12/19/2005), the selectee must meet Information Assurance Certification standards for IAT Level II Certification.
Qualifications
You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized Experience: is defined as 1) experience managing national or global telecommunication network projects, and 2) developing instructions, guides and related procedures to be used in the operation and maintenance of network and associated equipment.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Education is substitutable for specialized experience for this grade level.
