You will serve as a Quality Assurance Specialist in the Engineering and Analysis Division, Quality Assurance Office of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will accomplish quality related certification functions supporting Level I and SUBSAFE/SOC/FBW requirements on assigned availabilities.
You will review records and applicable supporting documentation to ensure information is properly recorded and conforms to technical requirements.
You will coordinate corrective actions to ensure quality requirements are met.
You will serve as an audit specialist to monitor detachment operations affecting the quality and reliability of products and control procedures as related to upper level documents and control procedures.
You will prepare reports and maintain follow-up control on unresolved findings.
You will perform other duties as assigned.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge in monitoring, controlling, or maintaining the quality of products or services in quality assurance, procurement, inspection, production, or related areas. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience completing technical work in the performance of submarine certification operations covering all aspects of Level I material installation and the Submarine Safety (SUBSAFE), Scope of Certification (SOC), and the Fly-By-Wire (FBW) system controls.
Experience monitoring all facets of a systematic, comprehensive and economical Quality Assurance Program at the Detachment level as related to non-nuclear areas of submarine conversion, repair, and overhaul.
Experience performing audit functions necessary to support the command in achieving and maintaining Submarine Safety certification and ship readiness for sea.
Experience applying knowledge of submarine piping systems, their installation procedures and test criteria.
Experience communicating orally and in writing to prepare factual reports and provide guidance to other personnel in the performance of their duties.
