You will serve as a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR (FORKLIFT OPERATOR) in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, INTEGRATED SOLID WASTE PROGRAM of NAVFAC NORTHWEST.
Duties
You will operate vehicles that are heavy, large and long and have air brakes or hydraulic mechanisms or other similar equipment with an approximate gross vehicle weight up to 26,000lbs.
You will maneuver large vehicles and forklift with large loads-backing and/or maneuvering around in tight areas.
You will determine requirements for wide turns, braking, backing and turning around competently and safely.
You will identify and sort basic recycle materials by use of a magnet, grinding, hands-on, or by visual inspections.
You will operate industrial equipment such as paper shredder, can-densor, horizontal and vertical balers, compactors, lifts and conveyers.
You will complete trip tickets along with trip records or logs, showing time of departure, trip mileage, gasoline, diesel fuel and oil consumption, etc.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
