Duties

You will serve as an ELECTRONIC MEASUREMENT EQUIPMENT MECHANIC in the AVIONICS DIVISION (N600) of the FLEET READINESS CENTER (FRC) located at ANDREWS AFB, MD. You will calibrate, repair, modify, test, inspect, and troubleshoot a variety of Precision Measuring Equipment authorized at the Intermediate Maintenance Department. You will generate, receive, modify, amplify, measure or display electronic signal and transform it into measurable units in major electronic, electrical or electro-mechanical systems used in ground, airborne and marine applications. You will service, troubleshoot, isolate malfunctions, and support calibration of a variety of equipment which is integrated with other electronic equipment. You will determine repairs needed, perform related duties as assigned, and perform the work with little or no guidance.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Materials Handling Equipment (MHE) license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current hazardous materials (HAZMAT) certification. A bi-annual re-certification is required.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Collateral Duty Inspector certification.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: THE ABILITY TO WORK WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION such as: Experience applying knowledge of electrical theory and electronic fundamentals, including solid state, digital, and binary circuitry and computer programming principles. Experience understanding the operation, capabilities and limitations of precision measurement calibration standards such as pulse generators, microwave frequency counters, peak power meters, Root Mean Squared (RMS) voltmeters, oscilloscopes, precision meter calibrators, frequency synthesizers, and signal generators. Experience interpreting electrical schematics, logic and data flow charts, wiring diagrams, programming tables, technical publications, and instrument calibration procedures. Experience applying knowledge of the methods and techniques of precise measurement of parameters such as time, duration, frequency, amplitude and phasing at various test points. Must be able to follow voltage, current, and resistance paths, and trace signals though a variety of processing and amplification stages, and adjust potentiometers, capacitors, and coils related to such characteristics as gain, distortion, linearity, and sensitivity.
