You will serve as a SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the N3 OPERATIONS of NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE CTR CORONADO.

Duties

You will plan, schedule, and conduct inspections, evaluations and surveys of facilities, equipment and operations at various locations to determine compliance with regulatory requirements. You will Conducts safety and occupational health inspections and surveys of Naval Special Warfare Center (NSWCEN) and subordinate commands facilities, equipment, and work spaces. You will review and analyze findings and prepares formal reports. You will plan, coordinate and conduct injury/illness mishap and near mishap investigations involving SEAL and Special Boats candidates, staff, and property assigned to NSWCEN and subordinate commands. You will manage and develop safety and occupational health training requirements through analysis of accident data, surveys, inspection, and/or review of regulatory mandates. You will review plans and specifications for new facility construction, major alterations, or changes to safety and occupational health requirements.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Must maintain status as a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist which includes courses noted in the Navy Safety and Occupational Health Program Manual.
  • Must have the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, crawl into confined spaces and walk on uneven grounds.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: managing, administering and/or monitoring the effectiveness of the safety and occupational health program; analyzing a wide variety of safety issues and develops courses of action to minimize or eliminate hazardous operations.
