This position is located in the Office of the Director, Peace Corps headquarters, Washington DC. The incumbent serves as an Executive Assistant to one of the senior leaders of the Agency and performs a variety of tasks and duties in support of administrative and management issues and functions for the Director's Office.
Duties
The Executive Assistant will be assigned to a senior leader to provide support and assistance in managing daily office activities, planning, and scheduling arrangements. The incumbent is responsible for executing a wide variety of administrative actions, and analyzing, advising, and resolving a variety of matters for operational efficiency. Duties may be time sensitive and require extensive coordination, planning and critical thinking to stay abreast on all ongoing actions. The incumbent may be privy to sensitive confidential matters and information, and must apply a high level of tact, discretion, judgment, and confidentiality in performing the functions of this position.

Specialized Experience:
This vacancy is being announced at two grades:
Specialized Experience at the FP-4 (GS-12): To be minimally qualified for this position at the FP-4 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression, FP-5 or GS-9 level which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes: Excellent management skills to plan, schedule, coordinate, and conduct assignments and projects of high priority, concern, and interest to the Director. Excellent written and oral communication skills to deal effectively with high-level officials both within and outside the Agency; and to develop and prepare informational material for effective meetings and briefings.

Ph. D or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position.
Specialized Experience at the FP-3 (GS-13): To be minimally qualified for this position at the FP-3 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression, FP-4 or GS-12 level which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes: Extensive experience involving executive support to Senior Level officials of an organization. Expert knowledge of administrative practices and procedures common to organizations, work methods and processes, channels of communication, delegation of authority, routing of correspondence, filing systems, and storage of files and records. Ability to coordinate and integrate the work of others into cohesive final work products which accurately reflect the organization's position on a wide variety of management and mission-related issues.

Peace Corps employees are employed using the Foreign Personnel (FP) pay scale. The FP pay plan does not follow the same structure as the GS pay plan. In the FP pay plan, as the grade-level numbers decrease the level/pay for the position increases. The FP-09 is the lowest entry-level grade and the FP-01 is the highest senior-level grade.

A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Education must be accredited by an institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be used towards qualifications.
