Employee will serve as a Financial Accounts Technician in the Accounts Management Division at the Florida Caribbean Patient Account Center (CPAC) aligned under the Chief Finance Officer located in Orlando, FL

Duties

The CPAC is a regionally consolidated business entity established to enhance revenue operations throughout the VHA network by standardization and consolidation of functions, and the integration of VHA and industry best practices. The major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Performs accounts receivable (collection) functions of the revenue program including third-party insurance reimbursements and other account receivables.
Analyzes outstanding third-party receivables to determine the best course of action to affect maximum revenue recovery.
Receives, processes, and responds to a variety of communications generated by third-party payers.
Audits, analyzes and reviews information regarding the established third-party receivable to discuss the status of the account when inquiry is made on follow-up.
Maintains and updates computerized records of debts to document collection efforts and identify trends for management.
Coordinates collection efforts utilizing accounts receivable software packages.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other departments involved with the revenue cycle organization as well as external organizations; and
Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday-Friday; 8:00AM-4:30PM

Qualifications
To qualify for this position at the GS-5 level, you must meet one of the following:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped them with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-4 level in Federal Service. Specialized experience includes: processing health claims; contacting insurance companies to expedite collections; performing accounts receivable follow-up and adjudicating third party healthcare claims; researching problems and issues related to electronic submission of health insurance claims. OR
EDUCATION: Successfully completed four (4) years of education above the high school level in any field which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. transcripts Required) OR
COMBINATION: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education (beyond the second year) and specialized experience, as described. (Transcripts Required)

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates.
