The position is located within a one of seven CPACs, organizationally aligned under the Chief Financial Officer, in the Accounts Management department. The CPAC is a regionally consolidated business entity established to enhance revenue within VHA using an industry-best model built on regional management of key aspects of the revenue cycle, process standardization, accountability, and economies of scale for 18 VISNs and over 135 VAMCs nationally, including US territories.
Duties
Receives and responds to a variety of written and oral communication generated by third party pharmacy payers.
Solves complicated problems that arise with the electronic submission of claims.
Performs analysis on outstanding pharmacy third party receivables to ensure proper debt collections.
Performs follow-up procedures through phone calls, on-line data bases, and letters to insurance companies and customers.
Performs claims submission related to prescription drugs provided for beneficiaries.
Verifies benefits, policy information, pre-certification requirements, insurance contact information, and effective dates of insurance policies.
Reviews returned/rejected claims for reason of rejections or denial and resubmits claims.
Accomplished through consulting with Pharmacy staff; verifying and investigating benefits.
Provides expertise on claim submission actions to ensure compliance with agency, pharmacy, and insurance standards.
Makes determinations on best course of action regarding billing and accounts management to affect maximum recovery.
Provides advisory and technical assistance to professional and administrative staff concerning a verity of issues related to the electronic submission of pharmacy claims.
Work Schedule: 40 hour per week; Monday-Friday; Tour of Duty to be set based on organizational need.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/03/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for running multiple reports and working reports in accordance with Internal Control Audit and Federal Regulations.
Reviews, researches, and analyzes account receivable records by utilizing various databases.
Ensure claims are submitted in various formats in compliance with specific requirements of the appropriate insurance carrier in order to improve collections.
Performs follow-up procedures through phone calls, on-line data bases, and letters to insurance companies and customers.
Follows all Federal Laws, National Guidelines, and Agency Policies regarding debt collections

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary with long periods of sitting at a desk, working with computers daily. Some work may require walking in offices and similar areas for meetings. Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite. The work does not require any special physical effort.
