This position is within the Executive Resources (ER) staff. As a Human Resources Specialist, you will serve as a technical expert to advise on executive resources policies and their impacts to Department of Justice (DOJ) operations for Senior Executive Service (SES)/ Senior Level (SL) allocations, position classification, staffing and recruitment, compensation, performance management, or political personnel.

The duties and responsibilities of a Human Resource (HR) Specialist generally include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Plan, obtain approval, and implement executive resources policies Department-wide. Specifically, interpret the provisions of HR policies, regulations, and guidelines to highlight substantive issues and their relevance and to advise top level management.
* Serve as a senior technical advisor for assisting the Assistant Director in formulating and recommending polices and procedures that govern Department-wide executive resources policies to effectively meet current and long-range goals.
* Plan, organize, and conduct analyses of major programs and systems to evaluate the impact of new and current DOJ HR polices.
* Evaluates OPM and DOJ executive resources policies and programs to determine their impacts on the SES/SL cadre as well as coordinates with OPM and stays abreast of new legislation, regulation, and other Federal government initiatives.
* Manage executive resources functional areas including: SES/SL allocations, classification oversight of DOJ's SES/SL and Schedule C positions, onboarding of political hires, providing SES/SL recruitment and staffing services to DOJ's Offices, Boards, and Divisions (OBDs) and Bureaus, and coordinating SES/SL performance management for appraisal certification and the Performance Review Board process.
Requirements
- You must be a United States Citizen or National.
- You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
- You may be required to complete a one-year probationary or two-year trial period.
- Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file.

Qualifications
To qualify for the position of Human Resources Specialist (Executive Resources) at (GS-0201-14), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you're applying to.
If you are a current or former government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Additionally, please ensure to submit an applicable SF50 (please refer to the "required documents" section for additional information).
Specialized Experience: Applicant must have one year of experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal service managing or executing human resources programs for Executive Resources, Senior Level Professionals or Federal Political Personnel; and evaluating the impact on new or proposed polies impacting Senior Executives, Senior Professionals, or Political Personnel in the Federal service.
