Duties
You will coordinate funeral honors with a casualty assistance team, funeral honors program members, funeral or cemetery director, next of kin, and other interested parties.
You will verify the eligibility of the veteran to receive military funeral honors using an automated systems, DD-214's, Veteran's Affairs documents, or other proof of honorable military service.
You will research applicable rules, regulations, procedures, and requirements to provide accurate information to customers.
You will orally articulate instructions to execute processes or procedures.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

Qualifications
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector 1) Administering funeral programs and support Casualty Assistance Calls Program by receiving requests, confirming details, verifying eligibility and assigning personnel; 2) Communicating effectively both orally and written with funeral personnel and private citizens, and 3) Providing assistance by processing benefit claims, coordinating travel requirements, and managing case files; 4) Following up with primary next of kin and funeral directors for confirmations of assigned Funeral Honors Support details; 5) Performing quality assurance reviews of processed Funeral Honors requests and verifying travel claims submitted in Defense Travel System (DTS) and cross referenced between DTS and the HONORS tracking system.
