Job opening: Air Traffic Control Specialist

Salary: $121 498 - 164 022 per year
Employment Type: Full-time
Serves as one of several Air Traffic Control Specialists (NOTAM specialists) in the Unites States Notice to Air Missions Office (USNOF) who provide technical expertise in the administration of the Federal NOTAM System and the NOTAM Entry System. Responsible for reviewing and disseminating NOTAMs in accordance with FAA policy and procedures associated with NOTAM entry, the United States NOTAM System (USNS), and the Federal NOT AM System (FNS).

Duties

As a subject matter expert, the Specialist reviews NOTAM data for discrepancies and compliance with applicable directives. The incumbent performs routine quality control checks in concert with International Civilian and Military NOTAM offices to maintain the integrity of the US NOTAM database. NOTAM specialists are responsible for making recommendations on national and international procedures to create NOT AM policy and are experts in maintaining and disseminating aeronautical data in accordance with domestic and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) NOTAM standards.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents).
  • Designated or Random Drug Testing required.
  • Successful completion of a security investigation may be required.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Must obtain Medical and security clearances.
  • Must submit FAA Form 3330-43.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must demonstrate in your application that you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.Specialized experience includes:Experience in a military or civilian air traffic facility that demonstrated possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the level of work of the specialization for which application is made. This experience must have provided a comprehensive knowledge of appropriate air traffic control laws, rules and regulations;Experience reviewing, formatting and disseminating high volume of NOTAMs using the Federal Notam System and legacy systems (e.g. ENII, BHIV, OASIS, NES, AISR, etc.)Medical & Security Clearance Requirement: Prior to making firm offers for selections, medical, drug testing (Drug and Alcohol Testing Program) and security clearances will be verified as being current and appropriate for the position. Selectee must pass a medical examination prior to appointment and security (Secret Clearance).Applicants should provide examples of Specialized Experience in their Work History. Qualifications must be met by the closing date of the announcement.
