Serves as the Air Traffic Manager at the Air Traffic Control System Command Center (ATCSCC) .As a recognized expert in air traffic control operations and procedures, he/she is responsible for all operational activities of the ATCSCC. His/her actions significantly impact the daily operations of the National Airspace System (NAS) as well as the safety of the flying public.
Duties
Supervises, plans, directs, coordinates evaluates and manages a large, highly technical multi layered workforce that is responsible for the safe, orderly and expeditious movement of air traffic throughout the NAS. Plan and leads national traffic management initiatives which impact the efficiency and effectiveness of the NAS. Analyzes, recommends and implements national traffic management policies and regulations that promote the efficient use of the NAS. Directs the formulation, implementation and monitoring of complex traffic management initiatives in the NAS. Participates in accident investigations and incidents as directed by higher authority.
Requirements
- US Citizenship is required.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

- Not covered under special provisions for air traffic controller retirement
- This position is subject to drug and alcohol testing
- TCS - $5000 each way for a total of $10,000
- If the position is made permanent the remaining amount of $5000 will be paid
Qualifications
Candidates must show specialized experience. Specialized experience is defined as:1) Must have held an FAA 2152 FV-J/FG-14 or above regional or headquarters positions for at least 1 year (52 weeks);OR2) Must have been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) at an ATS facility;(Note: an employee who has been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility that is upgraded is considered to meet the qualification requirements of the upgraded position, since he or she has been performing the higher-graded work);OR3) Must have held a MSS position for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility.In addition to the qualifications listed above for MSS positions, if applying for the MSS-4 position, you must have held the MSS-3 or MSS-4 or a FAA 2152 FV-J/FG-14 or higher in a Headquarters or Region position for at least 1 year (52 weeks) [IAW Qualification Requirements for AT-2152 Terminal and En Route Positions (Revision 1) dated 11/08/99].Qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this vacancy announcement.

Duties and Responsibilities continued:
The Manager of the Air Traffic Control System Command Center reports directly to the Director, NAS Operations who provides nominal administrative supervision. The incumbent exercises a high level of judgment in the performance of his/her duties by independently looking for alternative strategies to adapt to the changing requirements of the NAS. Performance is evaluated upon the effectiveness with which objectives are achieved.
