About the Position: Serve as a Lead Public Safety Dispatcher for the Directorate of Emergency Services at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

Duties

Provides emergency medical dispatching (EMD) assistance to callers with medical emergencies using the local authority's emergency medical dispatch system. Provides assistance to medical, police and fire personnel by acting as liaison between department personnel and other agencies. Identifies the determinant and level of response and provides this and any additional information to the responding units. Prepares and disseminates shift schedules to include coordinating internal changes in shift duties to provide for non-incapacitating occurrences. Transfers caller to proper agency as determined or dispatches a variety of emergency equipment to include police, fire, ambulance, Med-Evac, rescue or hazardous materials units. Operates the Severe Weather warning system for the installation when required.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position requires the employee to successfully pass a Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) investigation, which includes a Criminal Justice Fingerprint background screening.
  • The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain certification in ACCESS Level II.
  • The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain certification in CJIS Security Awareness.
  • The incumbent is responsible for attaining continuing dispatch education (CDE) requirements through in-service training that is offered locally.
  • The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain certificate in DOD Hazardous Materials Awareness.
  • The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain certificate in Advanced Medical Priority Dispatch System.
  • The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
